Events Spring 2012

Hello!! As promised here is the post of all our activities for the semester.

First, our biggest events were that of GREEK WEEK!! We were proudly represented by Alisha Newcomb as Greek Goddess. Unfortunately we didn't win, however; we did great in events such as quiz bowl, tug of war, etc. Our girls worked themselves to the bone to show their AST pride, and the entire sisterhood couldn't be more proud!!

Next, we had an alumni get married!! Congratulations to Krystal McGuire Williams!! Although some of us weren't able to be there, you were definitely in our hearts!

Next, we were graciously asked by the brothers of Phi Sigma Phi to run with them for homecoming!! This years theme is 90's cartoons, and we'll be competing as POKEMON!! Here is a pic of our candidates, Sam Dobson and Heidi Smith.

We've been planning like crazy, and we've just about got our billboards/banner/backdrops all figured out. We plan on completing these throughout the summer, and I'll keep you posted!!

Next, we had alumni initiation, where we were able to not only initiate five of our seniors, but an older member as well! That day we initiated Trish Wolfe, Rita Targosky, Crystal Poe, Kelly Connors, Jacquie McKenzie, and Melanie Smith! The ceremony was beautiful and full of emotions from all our girls, however we weren't able to get any pictures. :(

Finally for this semester, we had our FORMAL!! :) We had our formal at the Elks Lodge, and we were surrounded by lovely decorations and amazing friends. It was the most perfect end to the semester!

Hello again!
I again apologize about the delay in updates. We have had an extremely busy few weeks, full of interest meetings, rituals, Greek Week planning and practices and visits from our EC. We are so excited about all of the great changes coming to AST, and we are all really hoping you are as well.

I am just going to pick up where I left off from my last update and fill you in from there. This is going to be a long update, so be warned. :D

Our first new member class of this semester has now been pinned, they are on their 5th week of new member classes, and they just recently found out who their Big sisters were. Our Recruitment chair has been doing an amazing job and we had two more interest meetings last week, and we handed out 3 bids with 2 girls able to accept, who will be pinned this Thursday before the business meeting.  This puts our total members up to 31 girls, which is an amazing number, and we are still going for quality girls, not quantity!

Greek Sing dance practices are in full swing. Our choreographers are working so hard to make sure we are on top of our game, so we can perform to our best. Teams are getting practices are underway and we are hoping that this Greek Week we have a great chance at placing higher than we have!

The past two days, we have had an amazing Educational Consultant here with us. She has helped us out a lot and given us great ideas. It has also led to some changes with out Exec Board. Collegiate Alumae Liason as well as our Panhellenic Delegate are now Exec positions. Also, since our chapter has grown so much recently, she wanted no one doubling up on executive positions. Therefore, we have made some changes. Amber Payne is still our fabulous president, Jessica Chernutan is now VP, Hannah Clark is Secretary, Kacie Collins is Risk Mangement, Alisha Newcomb is New Member Director, Kaila Bray is our PanHellenic Delegate, I have taken over the position as Treasurer, and the Collegiate Alum Liason position is now open for Nominations. I will be handling the positon until someone new is elected. These changes have been made in the best interest of the sorority, and will allow us to function so much better as a group.

We are really excited about everything that has been happening, and we hope that all of you are as excited as we are. :D

Tau Love and even more of mine,
Julie♥

Busy Times Ahead

Hello again everyone!

I apologize for such a large gap between this post and my last one, but it has been a very busy few weeks for our chapter. :) We have spent the past few weeks preparing for some big recruitment events we had coming up, making sure they would be as amazing as possible. Our new Recruitment chair, Krissy Rustemeyer has been doing a fabulous job. These two interest meetings held on the 31st and the 1st allowed us to hand out 7 bids, resulting in 6 new tadpoles. They were ribboned last night at University Point in front of their friends and family.

Also, this past weekend we had a closed weekend in order to train new officers and make sure everyone is caught up on their positions. Stefani and Bridgette came in and helped us out a lot.  :) We also had a sisterhood movie night, which was a blast.

We also have quite a few events coming up. Pinning for our new members will take place this copming thursday at 9pm. We have our date auction fundraiser happening on February 13th at 8pm, a Sweetheart dinner on February 25th,we are still deciding on a time, as well as a social with the brothers of Phi Delta Pi on February 29th at 8pm. Also, Greek Week practice will be in full swing next week, and we are all extremely excited.

Also, the alumnae newsletter is in the works, and if there is anything in particular you all would like to see included please let me know, I am completely open to hear your fabulous ideas. I will add my contact info to the facebook group so everyone can get in touch with me as needed, and there is also the CAL email, astomiconalum@gmail.com

I hope you all have a wonderful week!
Tau love and more of mine,
Julie♥

Introductions

Hello Ladies!

I would like to introduce myself as the Omicron chapter's new Collegiate Alum Liaison officer. :) I've come up with some great ideas, this blog being one of them. I feel that this is going to be a great way to keep each and every one of you informed on the life of the chapter, especially since this is going to be a big semester for us. I plan on posting at least once a week, most likely on Thursday nights after we have our weekly business meeting. Some other things that I hope to accomplish in this position is to get an Alumnae Newsletter started, that will go out to you all once a semester, and possibly scheduling a closed weekend where we can invite all of you in and have a dinner of some sort.

Right now, we have all kinds of exciting things happening in the next few weeks. We have interest meetings planned for the 31st of January and the 1st of February, and ribboning for the ladies we give bids to will take place on the 2nd, and will be open to the public and held at University Point. Pinning will be held on February 9th before our business meeting. Along with these great recruitment events happening we are in full swing with Greek Week planning and practicing. Dance practices are being scheduled, and teams for the other events are working on getting practices going as well.

I cannot wait to talk to/ meet all of you, and please feel free to let me know of anything you all would like to see me do for this office, and anything I can do to help you all out.
Tau Love and all of mine,
Julie♥
